Gabriela Benavides was born on the 30th of August, 1980. She has a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Husbandry graduating in 2005 with distinction from the National Autonomous University in Mexico (UNAM). She was an exchange research student under the program of “Globalization of Poultry and Animal Agriculture” at McGill University, Canada working on in vitro techniques. In 2005 – 2007 she served as assistant professor of the Ethology, Wildlife and Laboratory Animals Department of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UNAM. In 2006 she served as Assistant of the Food Safety and Quality Program at the Texas A&M University Center in Mexico and in 2007 she was promoted to Programs Coordinator. In 2012 she obtained an MSc degree in Veterinary Science with distinction from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
